Did you know the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1924 and added its famous balloons in 1927? 🎈 After reading Balloons Over Broadway, our Kinder, 1st, 4th, and 5th graders brought the story to life with a parade of their own. Enjoy Westphalia ISD’s Thanksgiving tradition! 🦃💛

Congratulations to these students who won in the first 9 weeks AR raffle!! Hannah Johnson took home a cake pop making set up! (See her 1st batch in the pictures!!) Kashton Greger loaded up on sour candy! FORTY other students won an ice cream float or an hour and a half of binge watching Garfield episodes. We didn't have lasagna, but we did have plenty of laziness!! We love celebrating our students and are looking forward to the 2nd 9 weeks' raffle! It's a great day to be a BLUEJAY and a great day to read a book!

Thanks to a grant from the Rural Technology Fund, students in all grade levels are getting hands on learning experience with physical computing devices. Last week, students were introduced to either a Cog or micro:bit. Students are using block coding to create algorithms, conditionals, and loops!
